Who can provide a submission?

The government invites all Victorians to get involved in the Local Government Act review - whether you're responding yourself, or on behalf of a community group or local council.

Do I have to respond to all the questions in the Discussion Paper?

Absolutely not. You're welcome to respond to as many, or as few, of the questions in the Discussion Paper as you would like. The submission asks if you would like to respond to the Discussion Paper as a whole, or to particular chapters.

Are the submissions confidential?

All submissions will be made public unless confidentiality is requested and granted by the Local Government Act Review Advisory Committee, or if the committee determines the material should remain confidential.

What happens next?

All submissions will be considered and will help shape the development of a Directions Paper. This will be released in 2016 and will also be open for public submissions.

Formal public hearings will also be held following the release of the Directions Paper. These hearings will be open to all members of the public.

More details about the Directions Paper and public meetings will be provided on this website, so please check back regularly.
